“Today, in a 2-2 vote, the Michigan Board of Canvassers declined to certify a ballot measure pushed by the dark money-fueled liberal group Promote the Vote. The measure would make substantial changes to Michigan voting laws and weaken the state’s election safeguards. As a challenge to the initiative points out, voters were not informed of all the changes Promote the Vote is attempting to make to the constitution, despite clear disclosure requirements. Honest Elections Project Action applauds today’s decision, which recognizes that citizens have a right to know what is in the petitions they sign. We will be watching closely to see if Promote the Vote decides to challenge this decision in the Michigan Supreme Court.”
