Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project Action:
Honest Elections Project Action applauds the Georgia Senate for swiftly acting to strengthen the state’s ban on private election funding. Just weeks ago, DeKalb County and the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL) acted to evade state law and pump $2 million dollars of left-wing dark money into DeKalb County’s election office. If this measure is signed into law, DeKalb County will be forced to return those funds.
Elections should be transparent and accountable to the people, not special interests. The private funding of election administration causes voters to distrust the democratic process. States across the country should follow Georgia’s example and strengthen the laws that help stop the U.S. Alliance for Election Excellence and its $80 million program to reshape election offices for political gain.
