Jason Snead, executive director of Honest Elections Project Action, released the following statement:
“Honest Elections Project Action opposes Governor Cooper’s veto of legislation that would reform the makeup of North Carolina’s State Board of Elections. Decisions pertaining to election rules should be commonsense, bipartisan, and adhere to the rule of law, which is what this reform would promote. Legislatures have the duty to make laws, including the laws governing elections, and the administrators tasked with executing those laws should be accountable to the people’s elected representatives. It is our hope that the North Carolina state legislature will override Governor Cooper’s veto on this measure.”
