Honest Elections Project Action Applauds Sixth Circuit Decision Allowing Ohio to Enforce Foreign Funding Ban

Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project Action, released the following statement:

“Honest Elections Project Action is pleased by the Sixth Circuit’s decision to allow Ohio to enforce its ban on the foreign funding of state ballot measures. The Sixteen Thirty Fund, a left-wing dark money group which is bankrolled by Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss, has already poured over $20 million into Ohio, including more than $6.5 million on Issue 1, which will be voted on in November.

“Sixteen Thirty Fund poured millions into a group supporting Issue 1, Citizens Not Politicians, just days before Governor DeWine signed the ban into law, and spent the money before the law became enforceable in order to dodge this foreign funding ban. Fortunately, with this ruling, neither Sixteen Thirty Fund nor any other group will be able to funnel foreign money into Ohio.”
