Honest Elections Project Action Congratulates Arkansas for Becoming Fifth State in 2025 to Ban Foreign Funding of Ballot Issue Campaigns

Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project Action, released the following statement:

“Today, Arkansas took a vital step in securing the integrity of its constitution. By banning foreign funding for ballot measures, lawmakers have closed a critical loophole in the law that foreign-funded organizations have already exploited to influence these important campaigns.

Arkansans have seen this foreign influence firsthand. Over $1.3 million in foreign-tied funds has already poured into the state from the Sixteen Thirty Fund, a far-left political group bankrolled by Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss. Without this new law, the door would have remained wide open to foreign influence from billionaire activists and even hostile nations like China or Russia.

“I thank Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders for signing this bill into law and applaud the leadership of Representative Mindy McKalindon for guiding this crucial legislation across the finish line. I urge every state across America to follow Arkansas’s lead and ban foreign funding in ballot measure campaigns.”
