Honest Elections Project Action Provides Testimony on Critical Election Integrity Legislation in Ohio

Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project Action, released the following statement:

“The bills considered today in the Ohio House and Senate General Government Committees would significantly enhance election integrity in Ohio. Too often, Democrats dismiss concerns about election fraud because they claim it doesn’t happen very often. In 2024, there were eight elections in Ohio that were either tied or decided by one vote. Even one fraudulent ballot is too many considering how close election margins can be.

“Creating a dedicated Election Integrity Unit through SB 4 would further deter election fraud and bolster public trust in outcomes. Similarly, the changes made to the election code by SB 153 would bolster public trust in outcomes, particularly by requiring proof of citizenship to vote, among other provisions. Requiring all mail ballots be received by Election Day, as SB 293 requires, would eliminate any shadow of doubt that ballots may have been cast fraudulently after the election, and would speed up vote tabulation ensuring timely results, thereby enhancing public trust in outcomes.

“Honest Elections Project Action encourages the Ohio legislature to get these important pieces of legislation across the finish line that keep it easy to vote and hard to cheat.”
