ALEXANDRIA, VA — Today, Honest Elections Project Action released a new report titled, “Virginia 2026: How Democrats are Rigging the Rules so They Never Lose Power.” The report lays out the advancement of election-related legislation in Virginia since Governor Abigail Spanberger was sworn into office, giving Democrats a trifecta in Richmond. The report reviews the 103 pieces of legislation which have been introduced, passed, or signed, which includes, but is not limited to:

The blatant disregard of legal and constitutional requirements with respect to the redistricting referendum.

Aggressively prohibiting “immigration enforcement at polling locations, essentially creating ‘Sanctuary Voting’ laws.”

Ranked-choice voting expansion and National Popular Vote Interstate Compact passage.

A November ballot issue to restore voting rights to convicted felons upon release from prison.

Disabling independent tools for detecting noncitizens and duplicate or erroneous registrations.

Allowing mail-in ballots that are received after Election Day to be counted.

Allowing private “Zuck Bucks” style election administration funding.
In total, 103 election-related pieces of legislation have been introduced, with Democrats authoring 78% of them, and 93% of them sent to Governor Spanberger’s desk for passage.
