Honest Elections Project Action Applauds Introduction of Legislation to Prevent Foreign Funding for Election Administration in Arizona

Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project Action, released the following statement:

Congratulations to Arizona Sen. Shawnna Bolick for introducing new legislation, based on an Honest Elections Project model, to protect our elections from foreign influence. American elections should be free from the influence of foreign billionaires like Hansjorg Wyss, who has given hundreds of millions of dollars to push a liberal agenda on this country. Over the years, Wyss has given significant donations to the New Venture Fund, a left-wing dark money group that is a major backer of the left’s new private election funding scheme, the U.S. Alliance for Election Excellence. This $80 million program has already recruited Coconino County, Arizona, and more than a dozen other election offices nationwide, raising the disturbing prospect that the Alliance is building a network to push both liberal politics and foreign influence into the heart of American elections.

“I also applaud Sen. Bolick for introducing an election security measure to require the numbering of all ballots, which will increase transparency and improve election auditing. These basic, commonsense steps will help build trust in Arizona’s elections and protect the voting process from corrosive foreign influence.”
