Honest Elections Project Action Applauds Kansas Legislature for Overriding Veto on Legislation to Require Ballots Are Received by Election Day

Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project Action, released the following statement:

“The overwhelming majority of states require ballots to be received by election day, and Kansas should be no different. Accepting ballots after election day invites the prospect or appearance of impropriety, which is why requiring ballots be received on election day enhances public trust in outcomes.

“While it is unfortunate that Governor Kelly vetoed this commonsense legislation, the Kansas legislature stepped up for its citizens to enhance their state’s election integrity. Rep. Pat Proctor and Sen. Mike Thompson should be proud of their leadership in this effort.”
