Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project Action:
“The Louisiana State Legislature took a monumental step forward to defend the basic principle that only citizens should vote in American elections. Recently, the state Senate approved House Bill 178, an amendment to the Louisiana Constitution banning non-citizens from voting in the state. I applaud the legislators for working together in a bipartisan fashion to put this measure up for decision in December. Our latest research shows that 84% of Americans oppose non-citizen voting, including strong majorities on both the left and the right. Now Louisianians can decide this winter if they want to preserve the right to vote only for American citizens.”
