Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project Action, released the following statement:
“For too long, Missouri’s ballot initiative process has been co-opted by foreign dark money. The Sixteen Thirty Fund – fueled by $280 million from Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss – has already spent $13 million on ballot measures imposing a far-left agenda on Missouri.
“Senate Bill 152 closes the loophole that has left Missouri exposed to this flood of foreign-tied funding. Foreign nationals are already barred from donating to candidates and Super PACS – ballot issue campaigns should be no different. Five states have already banned foreign funding this year alone, and Missouri should be the sixth. I applaud Senator Ben Brown and Missouri lawmakers for taking decisive action and urge Governor Kehoe to swiftly sign this critical measure.”
