Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project Action, released the following statements:
“Honest Elections Project Action applauds the North Carolina State legislature for passing a key election integrity measure with veto proof majorities that contains several popular, common-sense provisions. According to recent polling from the Honest Elections Project, 89% of voters believe every ballot should be received by Election Day, which would be required under the measure. The bill would also clean up the state’s voter rolls, a policy that improves voter confidence in election outcomes.
“And finally, this legislation bans the private funding of election administration. Americans have already seen how corrosive ‘Zuck Bucks’ can be, but that hasn’t stopped two North Carolina counties—Brunswick and Forsyth—from joining the Center for Tech and Civic Life’s ‘Zuck Bucks 2.0’ program, the U.S. Alliance for Election Excellence. With a likely forthcoming veto from Governor Cooper, Honest Elections Project Action urges North Carolina Republicans to remain strong and finish the job.”
