Honest Elections Project Action Applauds Tennessee House Passage of Legislation to Ban Foreign Funding of Ballot Issue Campaigns

Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project Action, released the following statement:

“The Tennessee House has taken a major step toward closing the foreign influence loophole, which allows foreign nationals to influence ballot measure campaigns. Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss, through his prolific giving to the left-wing Sixteen Thirty Fund, has had a major effect on ballot issue campaigns nationwide. It is past time states close this loophole to prevent foreign nationals from meddling in American politics. Honest Elections Project Action urges the Tennessee Senate to quickly pass this legislation to protect its elections from foreign influence.”
