Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project Action, released the following statement:
“Requiring proof of citizenship to register and vote is as commonsense as it is popular. The right to vote is reserved exclusively for American citizens. Every noncitizen that votes in an election cancels out the legitimate vote of a law-abiding American, which is why there should be a zero-tolerance policy for noncitizen voting. Texas lawmakers are right to make this legislation a priority. Honest Elections Project Action applauds the Senate for passing this important legislation and urges the Texas House to quickly follow suit.”
