Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project Action, released the following statement:
“Louisiana has a history of supporting election integrity reform, like banning noncitizen voting, and today I am encouraged the Louisiana House and Senate are strongly considering bans on foreign funding in ballot issue campaigns. These bills will close a loophole that has allowed foreign nationals to influence campaigns to rewrite state constitutions or ballot measures. We hope to see the House and Senate quickly take up and pass these critical safeguards to election integrity to keep it easy to vote and hard to cheat in Louisiana.”
