Honest Elections Project Action Provides Testimony on Arizona Foreign Funding Bills

Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project Action, released the following statement:
“Foreign nationals should have zero say in American elections. But loopholes in federal and state law have allowed them to impact elections across the country, including in Arizona.

“Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss has contributed nearly $300 million to the left-wing Sixteen Thirty Fund, which has in turn dropped $130 million in ballot issue campaigns across the country, which has had a profound impact on policymaking and state constitutions across the country. Nothing is stopping hostile foreign powers like China or Russia from doing the same thing.

“Wyss has also contributed tens of millions to the left-wing New Venture Fund, which has given at least $25 million to election-focused nonprofits like the Center for Tech and Civic Life that offer funding and services to local election administration offices. Private, moneyed influence should have no impact on election administration as it is, let alone foreign funded influence.

“Honest Elections Project Action was proud to be represented by its Vice President, Chad Ennis, today in the Arizona Senate Committee on Judiciary and Elections to offer testimony in support of Senate Concurrent Resolutions 1013 and 1014, which would fix these problems and protect Arizona voters from foreign influence.”
