Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project Action:
“A preview of Senator Klobuchar’s new bill, the Election Mail Act, should immediately raise a red flag for lawmakers. The bill apparently forces states to count late ballots that arrive up to seven days after Election Day if they are postmarked. That risks delayed election results, fraud, and extensive litigation if passed—all things that harm public confidence. Accepting late ballots is something most Americans oppose and most states do not do. This is yet another ploy by the left to target election safeguards and institute a federal takeover of elections. States have been doing a phenomenal job improving voter confidence by making it easier to vote and harder to cheat. This is just a preview of the bill, but a mandate to count late ballots would be a massive step in the wrong direction.”
