Honest Elections Project Action Reacts to Virginia Senate Voting to Approve Private Funding of Elections

Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project Action:

“Virginia Senate Democrats’ party line vote to advance SB 1180 – legislation that would allow the private funding of elections by outside money – is a step toward reducing Virginians’ trust in elections. As Honest Elections Project has demonstrated through its recent report on the U.S. Alliance for Election Excellence, left-wing organizations like the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL) would take advantage of the conditions created by this bill to push partisan politics into local election offices.

“The administration of elections should be non-partisan and free from the influence of left-wing ‘dark money’ and special interest groups. Honest Elections Project Action urges the Virginia House of Representatives to reject this bill and instead work to make it easier to vote and harder to cheat in the Commonwealth of Virginia.”
